About this experience

A BOAT DAY offers private, customized boat charters for small groups of 1-6 passengers. Sit back and relax on the very comfortable, 24 foot Hurricane Deck Boat as you cruise the waterways with a Captain as your guide. Your boating adventure will get you up close to wild dolphins and take you to secluded barrier islands so you can go shelling on pristine beaches or swim in the Gulf of Mexico.   Our private boat tours are perfect for family outings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, bachelor(ette) parties, marriage proposals, romantic getaways, reunions, spreading ashes, or any other reason!

Planning perspective

How I’d plan this experience

If you want a half-day that feels more like time on the water with your own group than a fixed sightseeing circuit, this private Clearwater Beach charter is worth considering. I’d choose it for a family or small group who would rather swim, look for shells, and explore barrier islands than spend the day on the beach. The four-hour format gives you room for a few different stops, but wildlife sightings and the exact route aren’t guaranteed—so go for the flexible outing, not a promise of a particular encounter.

Who I’d recommend it for

The boat is private for groups of up to six, which makes it a good fit if you want to share the day with family or friends and have a captain guide the outing. The itinerary describes opportunities to swim, snorkel, shell, and explore, and traveller feedback repeatedly highlights island stops and shell hunting. I’d particularly consider it if your group enjoys a relaxed mix of cruising and getting off the boat, rather than a ride with sightseeing as the only activity.

Dolphins are described as likely, and other wildlife as possible, not certain. I’d treat animal sightings as a bonus and choose this mainly for the island-and-water experience.

What to prioritize on your private trip

The listed option is a four-hour private tour, and the route may include Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island, and Three Rooker Sand Bar. My advice is to think in terms of what your group most wants from the time: swimming and snorkeling, beach exploration and shells, or a leisurely cruise with wildlife watching. The description says the trip is customized, while traveller feedback mentions captains making stops for swimming and tailoring suggestions to guests’ preferences. I’d tell your group’s priorities to the captain so the choices feel deliberate, while understanding that the specific stops can vary.

Plan around the pickup and the pace

This is a four-hour outing, not a quick add-on, so I’d leave breathing room around it rather than trying to squeeze in another fixed activity immediately afterward. Pickup and drop-off are at a designated meeting point; after booking, the pickup location is coordinated and may be a public or private dock, marina, or other waterfront spot. That makes the departure details worth settling before you plan the rest of your day. A cooler with bottled water, life jackets, and safety equipment are included, along with floats and mesh shell bags described in the itinerary.

The trade-off to keep in mind

The appeal is flexibility, but that also means you shouldn’t expect a guaranteed checklist of islands or wildlife. The itinerary uses “typically” for the route and “very likely” for dolphins; manatees and other animals are only possibilities. I’d book this if being out on the water and adapting the day sounds enjoyable even if a hoped-for sighting doesn’t happen. The tour is private, but the boat is capped at six, so it won’t suit a larger group travelling together.

Itinerary and highlights

Your BOAT DAY starts with a safety briefing, then it's time to cast off! Your trip will typically take you north of Clearwater Beach to our beautiful barrier islands including Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island and Three Rooker Sand Bar. Along the way it is very likely that we will see dolphins.    We may also see manatees, sea turtles, rays, Ospreys, native birds or other local wildlife.  As your BOAT DAY continues, it is common for guests to get off the boat and go swimming and snorkeling, or shelling and exploring on our beautiful islands.  Afternoon and evening tours can include watching the sun set from the boat, over the Gulf of Mexico. All guests will enjoy a cooler with complimentary bottled water, Big Joe water floats and mesh shell bags.

One of the few untouched islands along the Gulf Coast, Caladesi Island State Park is accessible only by boat, but is worth the extra effort.

One of Florida’s best-loved state parks, Honeymoon Island has more than four miles of beach to explore along with a three-mile trail through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forests.

Three-Rooker Baris a small, semicircular island that has emerged within the last decade. The fact that sand has been accumulating at this location while erosion has occurred at other locations demonstrates the complexity of the coastal processes at work on the West-Central Florida coast. As the island emerged, it quickly became vegetated, increasing its stability.

Laid-back Clearwater Beach is known for its namesake stretch of soft, white sand, which draws visitors year-round for jet-skiing, parasailing, and stand-up paddle boarding in its calm waters.
